ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical technique for unblocking energy by inserting needles at particular points along the energy pathways represented in the body, to balance the flow. Chi is an energy that allegedly permeates all things. It is believed to flow through the body along 14 main pathways called meridians. When chi flows freely within the body and a person is healthy. When a person is sick, diseased, or injured, there is an obstruction of energy along one of the pathways/meridians. Traditional Chinese medicine has identified some 500 specific points where needles are to be inserted for specific effects.
Acupuncture can help a wide range of conditions including:
- Asthma and respiratory conditions
- Mouth disorders, including toothache and post extraction pain
- Gastrointestinal disorders such as gastritis, ulcers, IBS, constipation, colitis
- Reproductive and gynecological disorders
- Neurological and musculoskeletal disorders including headaches, neck and back pain, trigeminal neuralgia, meniere’s disease, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, tendonitis, sciatica, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue
- Mental and emotional disorders including insomnia, stress and depression
- Addictions – eating disorders, smoking, alcohol and drugs.
Our acupuncturist can also treat conditions via acupressure massage for those who would rather not use needling.
