Outreach Co-ordinator
Oxfam North West is currently recruiting outreach co-ordinators throughout the North West, so wherever you live, from Cheshire to Carlisle Oxfam needs you.
Outreach is a community based section of the campaigns department, in this there are particular individuals called ‘outreachers’, who take to the streets by going to various types of events in order to talk to the public about poverty and what can be done to overcome this.
You don’t have to be an expert on the ins and outs of Oxfam’s campaigns, you just have to care about ending poverty and suffering. And in exchange you can gain access to a wide variety of exciting local events, i.e. music and sports.
The outreach co-ordinator (OC) role is important in sharing the knowledge of Oxfam’s campaigns to the public in their local area. This voluntary role will be based at home and consist of two evenings a week.
The role will consist of.
- Recruiting outreachers. You will need to use a variety of media resources including flyering different venues.
- Supporting outreachers. You will need to support the outreachers who attend your events. By teaching them about the campaigns and encouraging them to develop their knowledge and experience in campaigning. Giving them the opportunity to take responsibility at an event will further this.
- Working alone or as part of a team to organise different events to outreach at. This will include researching into different events that are happening in your area and liaising with the event organisers to enable outreach to be present at their event.
- Being creative in finding new ways to communicate climate change to the public at different events.
- Keeping up-to-date databases and conducting administrative tasks.
- Evaluating events.
The role requires that candidates have knowledge of their residential areas and the cultural events that happen in these areas. In addition, applicants should also have experience in communicating with the public or excellent interpersonal skills.
Full training for this position will be given.
So if you think you can fill this role and help create a thriving, passionate and exciting community of outreachers in the North West regions then do not hesitate to apply. Please provide a C.V and covering letter describing how you feel you can fill this role and what you can provide to this initiative to activismnorthwest@oxfam.org.uk.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Rachel Edwards
Outreach Support Executive.
